Called to Serve

In April Jacob received his call to serve in the Canada Winnipeg Mission.  He will be leaving on September 4, 2013 for a period of 2 years to serve his Heavenly Father and spread the good news of the gospel to his brothers and sisters up north and to help build the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.

He went to the Mt. Timpanogos temple on July 16,2013 to receive his endowments.  His older brother, Matthew, was his escort and I was able to attend with him.  It was a very special evening. I don't remember a time when the ceremony pierced my soul so much.  It was a very happy day.

I am very proud of Jacob for making this decision and for taking this step. He will be blessed as he goes about his Father's business. I want to take this time to let him know that I have a testimony of the gospel. I know that Jesus is the Christ, my Savior, my Redeemer and that nothing else matters because all shall be made clean in Him.

I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he restored the true and everlasting gospel to the earth. I know that the sacred record he transcribed, The Book of Mormon, truly is another testament of Christ, it is a true book and every time I read it I know it even more.

I know that we have living prophets on the earth at this time and that Thomas S. Monson is the true and living prophet at this time.

I know Jesus lives and that He loves me
I know a prophet leads our church and guides me
I know the Book of Mormon is a witness of Jesus Christ
I know the gospel's true
The gospel is true

This is where I will post updates and messages from Jake as he serves his Father in Heaven.  In the side bar I will post a schedule to read the Book of Mormon in 30 days. That is something I plan on doing every month that Jake is out.  I began in July and have completed it once and am on day 4 of this cycle of reading.  I would challenge each and everyone of you to also take this challenge to read as many times as you can while he is out.  I believe that if we do this, it will bless our lives and make us better people.  But I also believe that as we do this, it will bless Jacob and his fellow missionaries and open doors to them to be able to teach the gospel and bring joy and peace and happiness to others.
